Do you concentrate on your goal or on your game?
Do you find yourself setting new goals each year?
Do you spend more time dreaming, planning and goal setting, than actually doing anything?
Do you find yourself trying the same goals over only to fail again?
Have goal or have game?
I have met a rich cat that made his fortune in the Window Business. He started in his garage and built a multi-million dollar empire. One day I asked him if he had a vision that his company growing this big? I anticipated his answer would be how he sat in his garage, made a 10 year plan, marketing strategies, branding, vision and 1001 philosophy of Widow Manufacturing for success. His answer floored and flabbergasted my goal setting mind. He said, "Hell no, I was just trying to make a fucking paycheck."
This rich bastard had no goal.......he only had game.
He spent some much time building, perfecting, selling and hustling his windows to just make a paycheck that he didn't have time to plan. He got so good at the window game that it exploded. Once it exploded he hired Collage Grad Goal setters to help run the business out of sheer need. They knew, and he knew that he knew more about the Window business than them all put together. He could walk on the floor and build any product he offered from Windows to doors. He jumped on fork lifts, dealt with production problems till it was right and was always in blue jeans......He was all game....No goal.
This was a shock to me. This dude couldn't plan a one car funeral. He defied everything I had been taught from Think and Grow Rich, Lead the Field, Unlimited Power, Law of Attraction and every other self-help course I had invested in and taken. Now comes this dude and decides to built windows out of his garage to make a fucking paycheck. He builds some samples and bugs the living hell out of contractors. He builds more samples, makes corrections, listens to recommendations, and keeps discovering and building what contractors wanted. He was sales, production and management......He's only after a check, remember? He succeeds through sheer determination and dedication to the game. He just wanted to build a custom window for his costumers and make a paycheck.
He didn't grow....his creation grew from his determined pressure to make a paycheck and live life on his own terms.
He didn't grow....his creation grew from his determined pressure to make a paycheck and live life on his own terms.
The Fact that he didn't plan pissed me off for a while.
It didn't seem right. I plan. I fail. He fails to plan, but succeeds...This couldn't be right!
The great goal deception.
We heard about goal setting and think it's the means to an end. When I was young I thought if I set a goal and believed it was mine, I would have it. Yet, I couldn't seem to manifest my desires. See my deception was that I put too much emphasis on positive thinking and neglected to take action. I thought I knew all these groovy metaphysical truths and everything was going to plop in my lap. I didn't focus enough on the game.
Have you ever got lost in your dreams?
It's easy to do, you know?
See if you spend too much time dreaming and planning you drift off into fantasy. The Inner you knows that you aren't that serious and you are just in the fantasy. You begin to tell everyone what you are going to do, right? When you start telling everyone what you are going to do you temporally get to live the dream and release all the energy of your vision. You then tell yourself that it will happen one day and one day takes you into the future and into the realm of fantasy.
To live in the fantasy world is a trap.
Trust me you can get stuck.
To live in the fantasy world is a trap.
Trust me you can get stuck.
Your dream gets stuck in the fantasy realm by locking your happiness into the future.
You become all goal.......no game.
Game creates goal.
To play basketball you have to get the ball in the goal, right?
You can just try to throw a few in, but that won't get you in the pick-up game, will it?
You have to learn the fundamentals first.
You have to learn to shoot...dribble...pass...block shots...rebound...block-out...tip in...defense..zones...man to man...and it can go deeper and deeper.
The deeper you go in the learning and perfecting your game, the greater chances you have of making a goal.
You have to learn the fundamentals first.
You have to work on game.
You have to start somewhere and somewhere creates the distance between you and your dream.
The distance is where you learn, perfect and dedicate to your game. You have to travel the distance, you have to declare yourself in the game, you have to walk out on that court and take your shot.....
.......and take another shot.....
.......and keep taking shots.
You win at life by staying in the game....you can't get mad and take your ball and go home!
No Guts....No Glory!
Just be who you are and don't place a monetary value on your work. Don't think "I'll be a success when I get this much and all this stuff". Declare yourself in the game now.
Just be....who you want to be!
That's what I do dig about some of the rap artist of our day.
Some started with nothing.....make shift studios in their basement....no recording contracts....selling Cd's and tee-shirts out of their car trunks....rapping on the corner, the house party and wherever they could spit out their verse. It was them against the world.....a broke guy from the hood...with only a dream....then his homemade Cd's started circulating.....people began to feel him....people started to chatter about him....calling him "Their Boy"....the world started spreading....and one day.....
The guy who was against the world, made the world come knocking!
If you have never experienced the hood, you don't understand the struggle....the hardship...the despair of poverty...to make it from the hood to where they are?
To escape prison, poverty, violence, despair, stabbed, shot, crime, the hustle, hunger, and a feeling of being caught in a trap? A dead end street where millions of God's children suffer and never find peace?
To escape the despair of poverty and find your way to untold abundance?
Is not a miracle, like you may think!
It is sheer guts.
It's about getting in the game.
How hungry are you?
Do you have the power?
Do you have the will?
Have you been through it all?
You have to work on game.
No game....No goal.
You can only begin where you are!
You have to start somewhere and somewhere creates the distance between you and your dream.
The distance is where you learn, perfect and dedicate to your game. You have to travel the distance, you have to declare yourself in the game, you have to walk out on that court and take your shot.....

Don't have a goal.....be a goal.
My Window man left his little garage everyday in the "Window Business." He just declared his little garage company in the game. He was going to make a paycheck working out of his garage and didn't know any better. He just did it. No marketing, no plan, no branding, no system....just sheer guts!
No Guts....No Glory!
Just be who you are and don't place a monetary value on your work. Don't think "I'll be a success when I get this much and all this stuff". Declare yourself in the game now.
